About the Boxer
Boxers are enthusiastic, affectionate dogs that form deep bonds with their families. Their short muzzle makes them prone to breathing difficulties in India's summer heat. Despite this, they are better suited to Indian conditions than long-coated breeds. They need significant exercise but minimal grooming โ a fair trade.
Temperament
Perpetually playful and clownish โ described as a dog that never grows up. High energy and needs firm boundaries. Excellent with children but can accidentally knock over small kids.
Care & Grooming
Weekly brushing and monthly bathing. Keep strictly indoors with cooling during summer heatwaves. Never exercise during peak afternoon hours. Exercise 1โ1.5 hours daily in cool parts of the day. Drooling is normal.
Nutritional Needs
Quality large-breed kibble. Adults need 2.5โ3.5 cups per day across two meals. Elevated food bowls can help reduce bloat risk. Avoid strenuous activity around mealtimes. Monitor weight โ Boxers can become chunky without portion control.
