About the Rottweiler
Rottweilers are powerful, intelligent working dogs with a calm, self-assured temperament when well-trained. Popular guard dogs in India. Their short coat makes them more suitable for Indian weather than many other large breeds. Early socialisation and obedience training are non-negotiable.
Temperament
Deeply devoted to family but naturally wary of strangers. Can be dominant โ needs a confident, consistent owner. Without proper socialisation, can develop aggression issues.
Care & Grooming
Short coat needs only weekly brushing. Exercise 1โ1.5 hours daily โ mental and physical. Obedience training from 8 weeks. Socialise extensively with people and other animals early. Monitor food intake as they can gain weight post-spaying/neutering.
Nutritional Needs
Large-breed formula with controlled calcium levels for proper bone development. Adults need 4โ5 cups dry food daily split across two meals. Elevate food bowls to reduce bloat risk. Avoid vigorous exercise 1 hour before and after meals.
