Canine Parvovirus (Parvo)
Parvovirus is a highly contagious, life-threatening viral disease that attacks the digestive system of unvaccinated dogs. It is widespread across India and is one of the leading causes of death in unvaccinated puppies.

Home Management
There are no effective home remedies for Parvo. IV fluids, anti-nausea medication, and antibiotics (to prevent secondary infection) require hospitalisation. Do not attempt home treatment.

Parvovirus — core vaccine (given as part of 5-in-1 or 7-in-1 combination)
Prevention
Vaccinate on schedule (6, 9, 12 weeks then annual boosters)
Do not take unvaccinated puppies to public areas
Avoid contact with unknown dogs until fully vaccinated
Parvovirus survives in soil for up to a year — disinfect with 1:30 bleach solution
Wait to see if symptoms resolve on their own when they are worsening
Give human medication without veterinary guidance
Attempt home treatment for a severe or emergency condition
Skip follow-up appointments once the dog seems better

Tick prevention collars, cooling vests, and quality harnesses
